The Toronto Film Festival announced on Tuesday that 'Being Heumann', directed by Oscar-winning Siân Heder and produced by Apple Original Films, will be the opening night film for the festival's 51st edition. This year's festival will take place in the fall, and starting with 'Being Heumann' has heightened the excitement for the event.

Chosen as the opening film, 'Being Heumann' tells the story of disability rights advocate Judith Heumann and her struggle. Heumann is known for her fight to ensure that individuals with disabilities have a greater presence in society. This film aims to reach a wide audience with her story, shedding light on the challenges faced by people with disabilities.

Additionally, two other films will make their world premieres at the festival. 'Prima Facie', directed by British filmmaker Susanna White, stars three-time Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo in the lead role. The other film is known as the Korean production 'The Assassin(s)'. These films will meet cinema lovers as part of the festival's rich program.

As it does every year, TIFF aims to bring together significant works from the film world, offering audiences an unforgettable experience. Opening with an impactful film like 'Being Heumann' once again highlights the festival's commitment to productions that carry social messages.
