2026 has been a rollercoaster year for Avatar: The Last Airbender fans. Just a few weeks ago, the second season of the live-action adaptation released on Netflix saw a drop of over 50% in viewership. However, since Netflix has already filmed the entire third season, there is no risk of the series being canceled. ATLA fans were met with a bad surprise when they learned that the ambitious RPG project developed by Paramount Game Studios has not been completely canceled, but has been postponed indefinitely. This news comes after a tumultuous year that began with the leak of Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender.

Paramount managed to prevent the leak by removing most copies of Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender from the internet, but the damage had already been done. Experts estimate that millions of people watched the film before its official release. The animated sequel became the target of criticism after it was announced that Paramount would pull it from theatrical release and instead release it directly on digital platforms this October. Following the announcement from Paramount+ Brazil's official account that the film would be released early later this month, Paramount announced this morning that the new release date for the film is July 25 and shared the first trailer. However, Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender will still only be released on digital platforms and will not be shown in theaters.
