Star Wars fans celebrated the return to theaters this year after a seven-year hiatus with The Mandalorian and the debut of Grogu. The spin-off/sequel, featuring Pedro Pascal and Sigourney Weaver in leading roles, serves as a direct continuation of the first three seasons of The Mandalorian. These seasons are currently available for viewing on the Disney+ platform. Prior to this, Star Wars enthusiasts witnessed one of the highest-rated projects in franchise history with the animated series Maul — Shadow Lord, voiced by Sam Witwer. The success of the show was so evident that it was greenlit for a second season even before its premiere. Among upcoming projects is the first Visions spin-off, The Ninth Jedi, set to be released this August.
One of the highly anticipated projects in 2027 is the second season of Ahsoka, but this year, that’s not the only content the franchise will offer. Today, Star Wars announced an impressive new interactive exhibition titled Star Wars: The Experience — A Journey Through the Galaxy, which will open in February 2027 at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This new exhibition will provide attendees with the opportunity to experience an extraordinary collection featuring over 70 items from various eras of the franchise. Many of these items have been used in films and series and will be displayed for the first time. This exhibition is part of a larger celebration marking the fiftieth anniversary of the Star Wars franchise since the release of the first film in 1977.
These new projects in the Star Wars universe represent not just a source of entertainment for fans, but also a celebration of cultural heritage. Events like these, bridging the past and future of the franchise, strengthen the bonds among fans while offering new generations the chance to experience the magic of this legend.
