The 2026 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF) awards have found their recipients. The awards, part of the festival's business development market and industry section known as KVIFF Promises, were given to various projects. The festival's 60th edition will take place from July 3-11.
Hugo Rosák, Head of the KVIFF Film Industry Office, stated, "This Central European region has the potential to be a real powerhouse in the audiovisual industry." Rosák expressed hopes that the festival's industry events would provide sector professionals with more insight into the films produced here, the talents behind them, and potential collaborations.
This year, a total of 38 film and series projects were showcased. Among the award-winning projects, Selamlik (Sweden, Denmark), which tells a love story made impossible by war, stood out. The project was directed by Jerry Carlsson, written by Khaled Alesmael, and produced by Frida Mårtensson.
The jury awarded the Selamlik project a cash prize of 20,000 EUR (approximately 22,830 USD), expressing hope that this would contribute to the project's presence in the European co-production scene. Additionally, an extra award was given to support a particularly promising Ukrainian project. These awards highlight the festival's efforts to promote international collaborations.
