Controversial director Uwe Boll participated in a Reddit AMA event to answer questions from his fans, and as expected, things did not go as planned. During the event for the film Citizen Vigilante, starring Armie Hammer, Boll's film faced harsh criticism just like his past works. On Rotten Tomatoes, Citizen Vigilante received only a six percent approval rating from critics, while audiences gave it a score of 93 percent. The film revolves around Hammer's character's efforts to punish criminals, many of whom are depicted as immigrants.

The event got off to a rocky start when Boll responded to the question, "Why do you still make new films after some of the worst ones?" with, "To surpass them all." This kind of dialogue became even more intense later on. One question recalled Boll's previous description of actors as "whores," asking, "Are you also a whore pleasing the right-wing?" Boll answered this question in German with, "Absolutely."

When asked, "Why can you still find work?" he replied simply, "Money," offering a realistic perspective on his career. When questioned about why he chose Hammer despite the controversies and allegations, he stated, "He's a great actor and fits the film well."

Although Boll acknowledged that some questions were more respectful, it was clear that he generally did not like the tone of the dialogues. At one point, he commented, "Guys, why are you stuck in the past? You love to hate and tear down..." This situation further complicates Boll's relationship with critics.
