Despite being one of the most notable television productions of last year, Heated Rivalry will not be able to secure a nomination for the 2026 Emmy Awards. This situation is not due to the quality of the series or its airing date; rather, it stems from the financing structure of the production. The series does not meet the criteria required for Emmy nominations.
According to Emmy rules, television series financed by production companies outside the U.S. are not eligible for the Primetime Emmy Awards. Unfortunately, Heated Rivalry falls under this rule, as the series is produced by Canada-based Bell Media and airs on the streaming service Crave. However, the series is eligible for the International Emmy Awards.
Heated Rivalry has performed exceptionally well at Canadian award ceremonies, winning 16 awards at the 2026 Canadian Screen Awards. Among these awards are significant categories such as Best Drama Series, Best Lead Actor (Hudson Williams), Best Director and Writer (Jacob Tierney), and Best Supporting Actor (Sophie Nélisse).
The other lead actor, Connor Storrie, was unable to participate in these awards due to ineligibility for the Canadian Screen Awards. However, Storrie's name may come up for a nomination in the Best Guest Actor category for comedy series at the 2026 Emmy Awards. Storrie had guest-hosted Saturday Night Live earlier this year, and this performance gives him a chance to reach Emmy nomination.
