One of the most popular three free DLC packs for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Alternate Appearances, changes the in-game outfits of Ciri, Triss, and Yennefer. The Witcher 3: Complete Edition includes the Alternate Appearances DLC (as well as some of the best paid DLC expansions in gaming history); however, players must actively change the costumes to see these outfits.

Unlike other DLCs, the Alternate Appearances DLC offers a simpler usage without requiring players to roam the map to find new content. Those wanting to change Yennefer, Triss, or Ciri's appearance can simply do so from the appropriate section in the game's menu.

Players wishing to use the Alternate Appearances DLC for Ciri, Triss, and Yennefer must manually activate each one. To change outfits, it's enough to go to the Gameplay tab in the main menu and scroll to the bottom of the list. Since the Alternate Appearance DLCs are selected individually, players can mix and match with the default outfits to create their own combinations. This allows for flexibility, such as changing Yennefer's outfit without altering Ciri's appearance.

Once activated, the in-game character models of Ciri, Triss, and Yennefer change. Ciri starts wearing a stylish armor, Triss dons a green robe adorned with golden embellishments, while Yennefer opts for a black dress. Released between May and July 2015, these new outfits garnered significant interest among players and have been the subject of many Witcher 3 cosplay costumes worldwide.

Following the success of The Witcher Netflix series, additional DLCs have been added featuring new quests and Netflix-themed alternate appearances. Just like changing Ciri or Triss's outfits, players can also activate the alternative Dandelion appearance and a new Nilfgaard armor from the menu. Dandelion will wear a simpler green tunic and grow a beard, while the Nilfgaardians will adopt the crumpled armor recognized from the first season of the Netflix series. I’m not sure why you’d want to prefer these alternate appearances, but if you really want to, this option is available.
