The Yellowstone universe remains one of television's most beloved productions with over six series. Viewers have witnessed the stories of the Dutton family, from their challenging arrival in Montana in 1883 to their struggle to protect their property up until 1923. In 2018, facing the threats of modernization, the family fractured after the death of patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner). During this process, spin-offs focusing on the surviving Dutton siblings, such as Marshals and Dutton Ranch, emerged.

Marshals follows the youngest Dutton, Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes). After selling the family farm to the Broken Rock reservation, Kayce decides to become a U.S. marshal. However, the dark memories of Yellowstone from his past continue to haunt him; threats that sent his father to the grave still linger in his life. Dutton Ranch centers around Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and her husband Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser). The couple, continuing their farm life, moves to Texas and tries to cope with the challenges of acquiring new property.

The reception of both spin-offs has been mixed; Marshals received negative reviews from critics and audiences alike. The shift from a Neo-Western theme to a weekly court procedure was not well received by many viewers eagerly awaiting the continuation of Yellowstone. However, it managed to become the most-watched program of the 2025-2026 television season. Dutton Ranch, on the other hand, received rave reviews and drew attention for its similarity to Yellowstone. It became Paramount+’s most-watched new series and, according to FlixPatrol, continues to top the platform's global top 10 list. Dutton Ranch, which concluded its first season on July 3, shows no signs of relinquishing its throne even after a week without a new episode.
