As Sam Reid's rock star world tour comes to a close, AMC and AMC+ aired one of the last two episodes of The Vampire Lestat this evening. This episode features emotional moments during a time when Lestat's band is on the path to superstardom, and his influence over humans and vampires is growing. Last week, Lestat reunited with his lover Louis (Jacob Anderson), leading to emotional turmoil with the emergence of a fraud playing Claudia (Delainey Hayles). In the 6th episode titled "Montreal," the duo had to confront harsh realities, and for this special moment, Lestat prepared a new ballad that reveals his soul.

Collider shared an exclusive behind-the-scenes video exploring the complexities of Lestat's latest single "Brutal Love." Unlike his earlier songs, such as the David Bowie-inspired "Long Face," this new piece has a slower tempo and highlights Reid's impressive vocals. This is one of many original tracks written by Daniel Hart, but its most significant feature is its placement in the 6th episode. Lestat performs this song in the dark, accompanied by violins in the background, while watching Louis and Gabriella (Jennifer Ehle).

Recalling how he felt when he first heard "Brutal Love," Reid also emphasized the meaning this song holds for Lestat, as two important people in his life listen to it. The beauty of the song lies in its lyrics, which create ambiguity about whether the immortal rock god is singing to his mother or to the man with whom he has a tumultuous yet unbreakable bond. Ehle noted that Gabriella not only showcases her initially happy demeanor but also enjoys realizing over time that she is not the most important person in the room. Lestat turned this song into an anthem for his and Louis's complex love; it reflects not only everything they have experienced in the series but also their current situation.
