Michael Weatherly, who has been part of the NCIS cast for a long time, will return for the show's 24th season in the 2026-27 season. Weatherly was known for his role as Tony DiNozzo in the first 13 seasons of the series. This news comes right after CBS announced that Mark Harmon will be appearing throughout the season in NCIS: Origins.

In the new season, Weatherly will reunite with his team in Washington, D.C. Most recently, Weatherly appeared in the main series in February 2024 and also starred alongside Cote de Pablo in the NCIS: Tony and Ziva series, which aired on Paramount+ last year. However, this series was canceled after just one season.

Details about Tony's return storyline are currently being kept under wraps. The current cast of NCIS includes names like Sean Murray, Wilmer Valderrama, Brian Dietzen, Diona Reasonover, Katrina Law, and Gary Cole. During Weatherly's time on the show, he only worked with Murray and Dietzen. Valderrama joined the cast in Season 14 after Weatherly's departure.

All NCIS and other series in the franchise are produced by CBS Studios. NCIS: New York is also planned to be added in the 2026-27 season. Among the executive producers for the 24th season are names like Steven D. Binder, Chas. Floyd Johnson, Mark Harmon, and Donald P. Bellisario.
