Jay-Z Explains the Delay at Yankee Stadium Concert
The Hollywood Reporter
Jay-Z addressed the delay during the final night of his three-night concert at Yankee Stadium, after fans waited for over three hours. The rapper stated that the show was postponed due to crowd security issues at the beginning. "There were 10,000 people outside, and we closed the doors. Someone attacked the door. I didn’t want to start the music for everyone’s safety," Jay-Z said when the show finally began after midnight.
Once the concert started, the audience inside created a lively atmosphere despite the delay. Most fans stayed until the end of the show, which concluded at 2:45 AM, as fireworks celebrated above the stadium. This delay marked a challenging start for the highly anticipated finale of Jay-Z's historic three-night concert series.
Fans were eagerly awaiting what Jay-Z had in store for the final night after he brought out Beyoncé, Nas, and Alicia Keys on the first night, and Eminem on the second. On the finale night, dubbed "Extra Guests," Rihanna joined Jay-Z for "Run This Town" and then performed solo with "Bitch Better Have My Money." Additionally, Beyoncé took the stage at the end of the show with "Drunk In Love," and special guests included Teyana Taylor, Usher, and Pharrell Williams.
