Emmy Award Nominations Announced: Taylor Sheridan Excluded Again

The nominations for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced on Wednesday, and as usual, there were many surprises in terms of additions and removals. In the most emotional moment of the announcement, Back to the Future star Michael J. Fox received his first nomination since 2016, achieving his eighteenth nomination in the Guest Actor category for a Comedy Series. This was one of the nine nominations for Apple TV's heartwarming series Shrinking, which had impressed viewers in its third season this year.
Another Apple TV series, Widow's Bay, stood out with 19 nominations, becoming the new show with the most nominations. Jason Bateman received a surprise nomination for Best Actor for Black Rabbit, while Ryan Murphy's critically panned series All's Fair somehow managed to secure two nominations. Hacks broke the record for the most nominations among comedy series with 24 nominations. However, unfortunately, this year, Taylor Sheridan again failed to achieve success in the major categories and had to settle for a nomination for stunt coordination for Tulsa King.
Many believed that this year Sheridan would break the Emmy curse. It was expected that Landman would receive at least one major nomination. This expectation was supported by Landman's nomination for Best Drama Ensemble from the Actor Awards earlier this year and a previous Critics' Choice nomination for star Billy Bob Thornton. Another popular production by Sheridan, The Madison, was also excluded from this year's Emmys despite the acclaimed performances of Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell. The second season of Landman officially concluded in January 2026, and the announcement of its third season renewal was made. However, due to delays in filming, the show's release date, which fans had hoped would be in November 2026, will likely be pushed to 2027.
