A new family moves into the village to run Gruwel Geertje's old hotel. Father Toon, mother Maria, the twins Barry and Milou, and Ana and Carmen have come from Argentina to breathe new life into the hotel.
Another new face in the village is Sam. She and her mother Inge have moved to Rijland because Inge is an archaeologist working on a project in the village.
When Alfred finally arrives and unveils the statue, everyone is astonished. The statue has a wig and sunglasses! Timon and Joep deny they did it. Alfred is in trouble; if he doesn't put Rijland on the map within three months, he'll be fired! Barry and Milou sneak upstairs and find something! Joep is shocked. Does he see the ghost of Horror Geertje behind the window?!
Timon and Joep are terrified when Gruwel Geertje appears in the garden! But who is Gruwel Geertje, really? Someone has disguised themselves! Timon and Joep are searching for a treasure, but they don't tell Sam and Marjolein. Barry later stumbles upon some metal in the garden, and Sam thinks it might be the treasure! Victor convinces Alfred not to give up. Together, they also introduce themselves to the new hotel family in Rijland.
Milou keeps asking Victor about his family. Victor doesn't like this and makes a threatening remark about Coco's permits. This frightens Milou! Timon and Joep have a plan to distract everyone so they can dig for the treasure; they trigger the hotel's fire alarm! Sam is looking for teammates to explore what's hidden in the hotel garden. Timon doesn't want to work with Sam; he wants the loot for himself!
Chaos ensues at the hotel due to the fire alarm, a burnt pan, and unexpected guests! Timon and Joep are digging against something hard—is this the treasure?! They've destroyed all the plants in the garden while digging. Barry is shocked and makes Timon and Joep prove something before they're allowed to dig any further. Chantal is looking for a job and goes to Sam to help with the investigation. But as soon as Chantal hears she'll encounter vermin, she quickly quits. And do Timon and Joep really eat worms?
Milou has to babysit guest Spencer, but isn't that fun? Milou also gets a bad feeling when Victor lashes out at her.
Milou is furious with Victor and completely loses trust in him. Timon and Joep sound the alarm. They hope to become rich and famous from their garden find. Toon panics...
Sam wants to take a picture of the bomb, but Inge can't know. Marjolein makes a deal with Sam and helps her with the photo.
Chantal and Li think they've found the Rijland thief and speak to him with a lie detector. But does the device actually work?
Chantal accuses Alfred of the theft. Victor laughs at her and handcuffs her to a pole. How does she get free? Li and Ouwe Kees think they've caught the thief red-handed...
Victor catches Milou, Marjolein, and Sam at Coco's. It's far too dangerous there! The mysterious CSI sends Li drawings he can use to create a device.
Alfred gives up; putting Rijland on the map won't work anyway. Victor has to go to his mother's house in the city, but he doesn't want to. He sees another opportunity! Sam wants a photo...
Sam is stopped by security at the hotel, but slips past the fence anyway (with a camera). Will she succeed, or will she be caught?
Jesse and Barry have been punished for cleaning windows. However, they manage to lure Karin and Toon away and quickly escape.
Marjolein and Sam are looking for Milou in the woods, but they return without her. Toon, Maria, and Karin are worried about the girls.
The deputy wants more research on natural gas and is impressed when Victor comes up with a plan. Sam and Marjolein find Milou's scarf in the woods.
Sam investigates. Will she discover the mayor is lying? Li fingerprints several villagers and finds a match!
Sam and Marjolein tell Spoor about the bomb and everything. Spoor wants to go to the warehouse with them, but then he's called away: The thief has struck again.
Barry and Jesse do chores and walk past Bea's house with groceries. When they see a delicious cake, they eat it and are caught red-handed.
Bea holds Barry and Jesse at gunpoint. When she calls Spoor, the boys use her gnomes as a shield and flee. Timon wants to earn money.
Sam tries to convince Marjolein and Spoor that the mayor is lying, but when the three of them arrive at the warehouse, everything is gone. No car and no bomb...
Sam decides to go to the mayor to ask for an explanation. Marjolein wants to make amends with her and goes with her.
Victor and Alfred make excuses to avoid Sam's accusation. Joep and Timon tell Chantal that Jesse and Barry are the Rijland thieves!
Jesse and Barry are caught by Li in the junk shop, but Jesse denies they are the Rijland thieves. Karin is happy when she hears that Marjolein and Sam are arguing...
Li is at the barn, but CSI wants him to leave. It's too dangerous! Li sees someone walking, is that the Rijland thief? Chantal is recording an item about animal abuse.
Marjolein wants to flee with the evidence, but just then the investigator appears before her. Sam is happy when Marjolein believes her!
The deputy is furious when he hears that lists have been stolen by a child. Barry happily chats with the prince and believes everything he says.
Sam lies to Karin, but Marjolein has a hard time with it. Chantal secretly lures Doggie away from Milou. That turns out to be not very smart.
Timon comes up with an idea to make money: cash! Joep doesn't think it's a good idea. Victor catches Marjolein and erases all the evidence!
