Monica and Michele and Laura and Paolo are about to get married. The two couples, planning a romantic wedding for two, are gripped by anxiety and stress: Laura hopes this second chance, in the company of her best friend Monica, will go better. Meanwhile, Cristina and Emanuele are back at school.

Monica can't accept Michele's death and learns that he, too, wanted to have a child with her. Paolo, however, to avoid thinking about the loss of his best friend, works hard, with Adriano's help, to organize the perfect funeral. Meanwhile, Stefania has given birth to her twins, Rebecca and Rachele.

Laura's success spreads quickly thanks to a flattering newspaper article, but the editorial staff aren't as enthusiastic about her friend's book. Maya, Rosa, and Lea recognize themselves in Laura's portraits of women in her book and have no intention of forgiving their friend for being publicly exposed.

Stefania has disappeared. Giulio finds himself alone to care for the twins while Laura and Paolo try everything they can to find her. Paolo, meanwhile, also swept up in Valeria's enthusiasm, decides to throw himself into the nursery adventure, though he first wants to discuss it with Laura, who, however, is too preoccupied with her sister's disappearance.

When Laura returns from her business trip, she finds no one at home to welcome her. Christmas is just around the corner, and Monica, intent on instilling the holiday spirit in her son, entrusts her brother-in-law with preparing the Christmas dinner at their house. After speaking with Monica, Adriano confides in Paolo, who advises him to take his mind off things and think of someone else.
