During the investigation of the case of an offshore future index, PO, a detective in the Organized Crime Bureau, saved the life of his friend KIT, who worked for a security guard company. PO asked KIT’s sister FONG to purchase birds’ nest for him, but led their two fathers to remind their right and wrong of the old days. The meeting ended unpleasantly. In a bar, PO happened to meet a drug addict, KEUNG, who only just came out of the prison. He remembered that KEUNG had killed his beloved wife WAI. Therefore, PO could not resist beating up KEUNG who later was hospitalized. PO could be summoned by the Internal Affairs department.

Fortunately, PO was able to take off the pager’s battery from the bomb. When they were running out, PO was grazed by bullet and JOE was so scared he fainted. NAM was grateful to PO and impressed by PO.

YAN gave KIT half of the money from the sale of their flat. KIT understood that there’s no hope of being together again with YAN so he lent PO the money for setting up his business. However, PO was very unlucky and failed in his business.

NAM blamed JOE of not putting enough effort at the hotel, which caused business to drop. Thus, JOE decide to give the hotel a new image. NING was grasped and blackmailed by her boyfriend RAY. Luckily, KIT stopped it and NING changed her impression on KIT. JOE presented his proposal to NAM but was immediately turned off by NAM who commented it as total nonsense. JOE was very devastated.

KIN deceived FONG by asking her to go see a fortune-teller but had introduced her a boyfriend instead. It was seen by PO, which made her very embarrassed. In addition, KIN disclosed that she liked PO. JOE submitted his revised proposal. NAM was contented this time but he knew NING had helped him. NAM asked JOE to bring YAU YEUK LAM, who came from Shanghai, to wander around. Disliking it, JOE planned the itinerary casually. It was overheard by NING which started the mutual dislike.

In order to find out TAT’s whereabouts, PO approached YUK by repaying all her debts and finding her a new flat. FONG took sick leave and helped PO; however it was discovered by her employer and FONG was dismissed. At the same time, KIT needed a female security guard to protect LAM. FONG accepted, as she wanted to get near PO.

JOE was responsible for giving out the dismissal letters. Afterwards, he received ghosts' money from those layoff workers. He was angry and threw them at LAM. PO had installed an appliance to eavesdrop YUK’s conversation. He discovered YUK was very concerned about a guy called HOI GOI. YUK was miserable as she thought PO was dating her. KIN thought FONG had lost her virginity to PO. Concerning FONG's future, KIN tolerated with DAT. DAT then took the chance to make fun of him.

PO arrived and told the worker about his personal grief, which had ceased his anger. JOE changed his impression on PO. NAM condemned JOE of creating too much trouble. LAM explained to NAM that he had given JOE too much pressure. KIN again because of FONG’s happiness, did not compete for the post of chairman. After finding out the truth, he was very mad about being fooled.

NING was unable to restrain her emotions and embraced KIT. However, KIT was indifferent. NAM was well satisfied with the improved relationship between JOE and LAM. FONG was afraid there was further development between PO and LAM; therefore, she tried to bring LAM and JOE together. YUK met PO’s mother WAN, she asked her to find a new flat for her. PO was perplexed. He and FONG again installed another eavesdrop appliance into YUK’s telephone. JOE was in love with LAM. FONG took the initiative to teach him how to date LAM.

KIN knew YUK had run away, he immediately demanded DAT to repay the debt. PO claimed he would take up the full responsibility. NING purposely got close to ROY so as to provoke KIT. KIT was jealous and spoke out that he dared not to love because of their identity difference. NING was pleased.

YUK received a call and left immediately. PO followed her to a hospital and understood that HOI GOI was her son. YUK feared PO might disclose her poor status, so she promised to help him to look for KUEN. PO suspected KIT and NING were dating but FONG didn’t believe. NAM explained to JOE that they could still be friends though LAM had rejected him. JOE therefore befriended with her again.

KIT dissuaded YUNG from seeing YUK, or PO would catch him. YUK realized PO was following her. She quarreled with him and fought. LIN saw it and thought they were in love. PO introduced LIN a job and knew from her that YUK cared for her family very much. He changed his impression towards her. FONG apologized to JOE of being a matchmaker. She invited him for dinner at her neighborly food stall. JOE found the experience very new and interesting. KIT was jealous of the intimate relation between NING and ROY.

PO investigated that JOE was living in Fu Yat Hotel. He convinced him to go home. However, JOE insisted to be independent. PO scolded him it was not the way of being independent by living in a hotel and eating caviar. JOE thought it over and left. NAM was worried about him. JOE met KIN and DAT in a park. They brought him out for tea and informed PO and FONG. JOE did not want to go home so PO let him stay at his house.

FONG learned that JOE had interest in design and encouraged him to develop in this field. YUK was very impressed with PO’s attentiveness and his good relation with GOI. With an excuse, she bought him breakfast and cooked him medicine. LAM heard from FONG that JOE wanted to find a design job, she helped him secretly. NAM was unhappy to know JOE was finding a job. However, NING told him that he should support JOE instead.

PO did not understand YUNG’s motive and felt miserable. KIT knew the shares of NPC would rise so he borrowed money for investing. KIN said that YUK was a bad woman. DAT questioned PO and was unfriendly to YUK. YUK was upset and PO blamed DAT of overreacting. YUK visited YUNG in the retention center. She was impressed with his intensive love.

PO suspected KUEN was related to the death of TUNG. KIT dissuaded him from investigation. YUNG came to YUK’s house and told her that he would bring her to overseas very soon. YUK was in a dilemma. FONG was upset with her naked back showing in the advertisement. KIN didn’t blame her but pointed that her kung fu was not playing very well. JOE felt uneasy when FONG started dating MICHAEL. PO told him that he should be in love with FONG, and encouraged him to reveal his love.

PO suspected YUK was trying to distract him by fabricating such story. JOE decided to resign from the advertising agency and returned to KEI’s. NAM was happy with his change. KIT was dunned for debt. NING lent him two hundred thousand dollars. However, KIT took the money and gambled in Macau. He lost totally and was in debt again. Meanwhile, YUNG called him saying that KUEN was willing to repay for him. KIT refused, he understood there should be some terms and conditions behind. The woolen jacket woven by WAI was lost, PO was very angry. YUK rebuked him of being selfish and never took care other’s feelings. PO felt guilty. KIT failed to borrow money from NING and got drunk. PO realized and borrowed money from JOE. JOE promised to try his best. When PO was going to tell KIT the good news, KIT was meeting YUNG. KIT admitted that he had killed WAI, PO was shocked.

PO recalled his childhood with KIT and felt heart-broken with what KIT had done. KIT had no alternative but to work for KUEN. He was surprised to know that KUEN was planning to kidnap NAM. PO expressed to KIT that he knew he was the murderer. KIT promised for self-denunciation right after he had told the truth to KIN and FONG. KIT went to WAI’s graveyard to repent. He recalled how WAI was being killed.

KIT knocked PO down and hid him. KUEN could not catch PO and blamed KIT. NING and ROY announced their marriage on TV. KIT was filled with hatred and jealousy. KUEN and his men disguised as cleaning workers and got into the hotel. They successfully kidnapped NAM and NING and they extorted JOE for one billion. KUEN’s men intended to rape NING. KIT stood out and saved her. NING was surprised of KIT’s involvement. KIT promised to help her to escape. When JOE paid the ransom, he found that KUEN had no intention to release his father and sister. He changed his mind to use the one billion as reward to the one that could catch KUEN. KUEN’s follower KONG wanted to get the money and tried to catch KUEN. However, KUEN killed him. He put the blame on NAM and NING. He wanted to kill NING but KIT shot him dead.

KIT became the team leader and negotiated with JOE again. In order to show his sincerity, KIT would release NING first; and JOE had to cancel the reward. FONG got the fax and informed JOE immediately. FONG followed JOE secretly trying to persuade KIT to self-denunciate. Unfortunately she was shot unconscious. KIT took the money and ran away with YUNG. YUNG listened to the radio and recognized YUK missed him very much. He decided to leave Hong Kong with her. PO followed YUNG and found KIT. He tried to persuade KIT by asking him to think of his family. KIT resisted and shot PO. Did PO die? Would FONG regain consciousness? What would become of KIT? How was the triangular relationship among PO, YUK and YUNG?
