No one could win the heart of young and gorgeous KIU. KIU’s sister, SHARA, is a mean person. Even after marrying a millionaire in the gambling business, MAN SAI KWONG, she still hates her love competitor MAN KWUI FONG. SHARA was pleased when FONG was abandoned. FONG attempted unsuccessfully to commit suicide with her son CHOR. She left her shocked and mute son CHOR for KIU to raise. KIU then met an undergraduate, CHUK CHIN FAI and bore him a daughter, HO. FAI left KIU and HO to study in England. TSUEN HOI KING has spent all he owns on KIU, but FAI is KIU’s only love. Journalist SHUN is preparing a documentary about Macau and has some misunderstanding with HO when he is videotaping secretly in the casino. CHOR dashes off and saves everyone when he realizes that someone has bad intentions towards SHUN who is with KIU and HO.

SHUN feels guilty about CHOR being hurt during the rescue and taken to hospital. CHOR’s friend, KIM SHING, goes back to the casino for revenge but is kicked out by KWONG and SHARA. SHARA does not approve of her elder son, KIN, dating WONG HOI LAM, who is from a poor family. Although SHING is not faithful to women, casino dealer KONG YEE MAN loves him deeply. KWONG knows his men injured CHOR and tries to settle the argument by sending SHARA to placate KIU. SHARA knows KIU will not accept her compensation, so she donates some money to a temple and wish KIU’s family safe. KIN gets CHOR a job in a massage sauna as reward for not reporting who planted the bomb. SHUN is overjoyed and takes HO for a bike ride to the Cathedral Remains. KIU is outraged when she discovers that CHOR works in a massage sauna. CHOR tries very hard to find a way to please her again. Eventually KIU thinks out a terrible punishment for him.

CHOR takes the leftovers back to the restaurant for cashing in after KIU and the others have a big meal. FAI pretends not to recognize KIU’s voice when he calls up for HO. FAI’s wife, MA BING SHUM, is a perfectionist and proud of her perfect family. SHUN recalls the old memory of his little brother being drowned when he swims with SHUN, FAI and FAI’s son HONG. This tragedy still haunts him and has caused estrangement between him and his mother. KWONG’s youngest son, KI irritates SHING after discovering that SHING has just bought a new car for a race. FAI asks HO out for a meal. HO grasps the chance to make KIU meet FAI. KIU reads FAI’s mind and cancels the date with some excuses. HO is disappointed. SHUM is upset when he chances upon HO and FAI taking an intimate picture. SHUN thinks of CHOR immediately when he needs a hand language specialist for a news special on television.

SHUN arranges lunch with SHUM after taking CHOR and HO to an interview at TV City. SHUM is shocked when she meets HO. SHUM feels the world is upside down when her questions reveal the father and daughter relationship between FAI and HO. SHUM follows HO to meet KIU in the Seaview Restaurant. SHUM looks down on KIU when she sees her singing for her living. SHUM arranges for FAI, KIU and HO to meet up, so that she can question FAI and KIU’s relationship. KIU acts as if she does not know FAI and then HO leaves angrily. CHOR rushes to Hong Kong immediately when he discovers that HO is missing. HO follows SHUN to his home and messes up SHUM’s flat for revenge. CHOR finally finds HO and makes her laugh with a little trick. HO returns to Macau and eliminates all the hard feelings between herself and KIU when she presents KIU with a bouquet when she is on stage. SHUM is extremely bothered about FAI’s past relationship……

HO is impressed when she hears KIU refuse FAI’s money during KIU and FAI’s secret talk. SHUM discovers that FAI has offered KIU money and feels that her devotion to the family is wasted. She quickly arrives at a plan of action.

KING learns from the doctor that he has terminal lung cancer. He decides to quit smoking for KIU. KIN opens a wedding gown shop for LAM in order to raise her class to surprise his parents. KING and CHOR take a tricycle ride and fall into good memories when looking at the old buildings. MAN, LAM and HO meet KI when shopping. KI wants to take the chance to humiliate SHING by buying MAN a watch but fails. LAM’s father, WONG YEUNG, is upset when he finds out that the wedding gown shop is a present from KIN. KIU mistakes KING’s proposal of returning to her family origins in Shanghai as a bad intention and turns him down. HO persuades SHING to stop hanging around the casino. SHING is touched by her genuine care. Everyone gathers at LAM’s shop to take pictures for promotion. SHUN and SHING are amazed when they see HO in a wedding gown, and cheerfully take wedding pictures.

KIU and FUNG are looking at the wedding pictures and find SHUN has a matching image with HO. HO boldly asks for birthday presents from everyone as her birthday is coming soon. She also gets CHOR to do her homework. SHUN and SHING both fall in love with HO unnoticeably. CHOR cooks HO some curry crabs although he knows he is allergic to curry powder. SHUM discerns FAI buying HO a valuable birthday present and decides to take over FAI’s business gradually. CHOR explains his past when SHUN asks him why he is so nervous about his whistle. CHOR also teaches SHUN how to use the whistle to speak. MAN blames TUNG for losing all their money in the casino and they then decide to borrow money from loan sharks to gamble again. HO’s birthday arrives and everybody celebrates. CHOR, SHUN and SHING have all prepared a birthday cake for HO……

CHOR feels bad when HO asks him everything about SHUN. MAN senses that SHING loves someone else. SHING and CHOR both accuse each other of loving HO. FAI and HO are having dinner together and invite SHUN. SHUN initially turns the invitation down due to work commitments, but later finds himself missing HO too much and rushes to the restaurant, only to find that FAI and HO have long left. He then notices someone has left a sandwich for him in the office. He rushes out and finds HO.

CHOR begs KIU not to abandon him and promises not to love HO. KIU realizes that she has hurt CHOR deeply, and cries with him. CHOR hides himself from HO. SHING deliberately takes HO to her college by a wrong route in order to tell her of his feelings for her, but she stops him before he can do it. SHUN takes CHOR to see a doctor and confirms that his vocal cords are not damaged at all. The reason that CHOR cannot speak is psychological. CHOR then follows SHUN back to his home and feels jealous of the good environment in which he has grown up.

Everyone is disappointed when CHOR tries to speak again but fails after being rescued. LAM and KIN eventually elope. SHARA pretends to accept this and asks LAM’s parents for LAM and KIN’s address. MAN sticks with KI for paying off her debts and also as revenge for SHING’s unfaithfulness. To please KI, she humiliates SHING in front of everyone. SHUN and FAI want to send HO to study in the states. HO is picturing the happy life in another country with both parents, but CHOR thinks HO is being too optimistic. KIU and SHARA go to Singapore to find LAM and KIN and SHARA pretends to support them. This makes them surprised and glad. HO persuades MAN to leave KI. MAN, however, slaps her on the face and accuses her of seducing SHING. HO feels misunderstood.

CHOR wishes to fade out his feeling to HO by working hard. SHING acts as if he did not see MAN when they meet. This outrages MAN, who uses her diamond ring to scratch SHING’s car, which does not surprise him.

SHARA lies to KIU about having to follow a procedure that a fortuneteller has taught her for the wedding, and everyone gets into the car that SHARA has prepared without realizing her tricks. SHUN hears from his colleagues that KIN and LING are getting married. Feeling extremely confused, SHUN and CHOR dash to the church immediately. LAM, KIU and HO are terrified when they are sent to the Chinese border, and they call KING. KIN eventually realizes that he has fallen into his mother’s trap. Fearing that LAM might get hurt, he has to marry LING unwillingly. When LAM reaches the church finding that KIN and LING have already got married, she cries hysterically. This makes KIN even sadder.

CHOR follows FONG and CHOI out of the casino. He presents them an umbrella and shows FONG his whistle. FONG ignores all these. SHARA knows she is going to meet FONG and plans a trick for her. HO rushes to see CHOR when she is informed that CHOR is looking for her and he might have seen FONG. CHOR then tells her that FONG does not want to acknowledge him. HO can only comfort him. HO and CHOR both think that Dr. LO can help CHOR to speak again when they see him on a TV interview, and are excited.

Everyone tries their best to help CHOR speak again, but fails. HO is annoyed to see LAM dating other male colleagues from college after KIN and LING get back from their honeymoon. SHUM listens to FAN’s advice and breaks the ice between her and FAI when she gives FAI a watch as a birthday present. HO is sent to the hospital for an appendectomy. FAI dashes to Macau for a visit, but unfortunately drops his wallet and identity card on the way and cannot get back to Hong Kong. SHUM is annoyed by FAI not coming home to celebrate his birthday with her. FAI stays in the hospital and listens to KIU as she tells him all HO’s stories in her childhood. That makes FAI feel that he was not a good father to her. SHUN lies to SHUM saying that he and FAI were trapped in an elevator all night and gets SHUM’s forgiveness. KIU and HO meet SHUM and FAN when they are trying to return FAI’s watch……

CHOR and SHUN overhear LAM analysing their positions in HO’s heart to HO. CHOR leaves sadly.

SHUN asks CHOR whom he was thinking of while he was falling. CHOR is silent. HO and CHOR hear SHUN and FAI talking about feeling sorry for hurting CHOR in the hospital accidentally. KING lies to everyone, saying he is going back to his family origin. SHUIN is irritated seeing nobody really cares for KING and eventually tells the truth. KING is dying in a hotel room. Everyone visits him there and KIU proposes to get married to KING but he refuses. Dr. LO is finally touched by SHUN’s persistence and agrees to see CHOR. SHUM sues FAI’s company for breaking the contract under her company’s name. FAI does not realize her plan and still tells her not to worry. SHUM regrets her action. KIU tells FAI that she is not going to the US, in order to relieve SHUM’s worries. FAI is grateful to her. CHOR is slowly making progress after Dr. LO’s therapy. Everyone watches a meteor shower. HO tells CHOR how she feels about him……

SHING blames CHOR for not telling HO his love feelings. CHOR keeps all the hard feelings to himself. KI and MAN lose all their money in margin trading. KI tries to borrow money from SHARA but fails. MAN wins a lot of money from the casino, but KI loses it all in one bet. MAN dares not express her anger to KI. SHING has good intentions of giving all the money he wins from gambling to KING through TUNG. TUNG disdains and humiliates SHING, and SHING is puzzled. FAI realizes SHUM is the owner of the two companies that are suing his company. He is even more shocked at her monitoring all he does. SHARA senses something wrong when KI buys a new racing car even though he has lost twenty million in margin trading. SHING sees KI betting under KIN’s name in the casino and chases after him with KIN. KI leaves unwillingly after realizing there is no way to cheat. SHARA scolds KI for his greed in trying to take over the casino……

SHARA makes up a story about SHING trying to rob the casino and also puts a price on SHING’s hand. This interests TUNG. MAN fails to tell SHING to flee. TUNG arrives intending to chop off SHING’s hand when everyone is happily preparing a hot pot meal. MAN finds SHING on time and tells him SHARA’s plan. SHING reckons MAN is joking and ignores her. TUNG attacks and wounds SHING, who bleeds heavily. Luckily, HO calls the police to stop TUNG. KIN tells KWONG about the whole incident and KWONG then questions SHARA and KI at home. SHARA denies it. KIU has to tell the truth that SHARA has slandered YING years back as well and this shocks KWONG. SHARA, however, swears that she has not defamed SHING. FAI finally cannot hold his temper and blames SHUM for what she is doing behind his back. SHUM proposes a divorce and FAI agrees to it. KIN arranges for SHING to go to Shanghai. SHING scares HO when he tells her of his feeling for her……

KIU is feeling sad as KING is dying. KING, however, requests to sign himself out of the hospital, claiming he is fine. SHUM visits TO in Macau for a fortune telling and does not fully believe it when she is told that her marriage might not be a failure after all. SHUM bumps into KIU and learns more about KIU and her past. SHUM tells KIU that she will not forgive herself for ruining her own family. KIU comforts her.

KIU has doubt about CHOR and LAM’s relationship when seeing CHOR is treating LAM too well. HO has a very good feeling about SHUM after staying one night at SHUN’s place. She also shows KIU the sample clothes that SHUM has given her. KIU grabs the chance to scold HO. HO finds KIU’s behaviour unreasonable and leaves angrily. KIN has been planning to divorce LING and marry LAM. Unfortunately, both KIN and KI are killed in a car accident. KIU asks FAI for two million dollars in front of HO as the condition for handing her over, and this hurts her. HO eventually leaves Macau and CHOR cannot do anything even though he is reluctant to let her go. SHING meets KWONG when he visits KIN’s grave. KWONG begs him to go home but SHING refuses. SHARA is mentally unstable after losing her sons. KWONG has also lost his interest in keeping his casino business.
