Sonja wakes up in hospital after six months in a coma. Her family is divided and her body in great need of rehabilitation. While she realizes that her security is in danger, Emil initiates a collaboration with the US police.

Sonja stays hidden with Lukas and has figured out who shot her. When further threats emerge, Sonja and Lukas take Barry's help to try to resolve the situation, but their plan goes to the punch and they instead end up even more in trouble.

To be able to pay off her debt, Sonja and Barry visit the goose farm and start up the family business again. Kattis gets assaulted, Emil tries to pressure Gustav to spy on Sonja and Linus gets an unexpected job offer.

The Ek family is gathered at Klara's home to show the social that Linus can move home again, but an unwelcome visitor puts spikes in the wheel. Linus learns that Tanja is not who he thinks she is and Nina turns out to have angel guard.

Sonja and Barry arrive in Colombia where Sonja meets Rosale's widow. El Largo gets revenge on Barry and tests Sonja by having her smuggle cocaine out of the country. Zac and Nina realize that the truth about Zac is out and decide to flee the country.

Sonja comes home from Colombia and makes a deal with Emil about El Largo and the Major, but lies to her children about where she's been. Barry and Kattis get married, but the wedding is not as happy as everyone expected.

Barry sets out on a quest for revenge while Sonja goes ahead with their plan and arranges a meeting between El Largo and the Major at the Colombian Embassy. Emil is in the wrong place when the goods arrive in Sweden and Lukas comes to Linus' rescue.

The meeting at the embassy turns into a hostage drama. Barry offers a surprise and Sonja is faced with the biggest sacrifice of her life in the hope of being able to give her children a normal life.
