The Earth Defense Club at Binan High School is a group of boys who do nothing but lounge around. One day, while two club members, Atsushi and En, are taking a bath at a bathhouse, a talking pink wombat suddenly appears and asks the boys to help save the Earth using the power of love. Unfortunately, the bathhouse owner's son, Yumoto, spots the wombat and chases after it, exclaiming, "Let me fluff you up!" The next day, the two boys and their fellow club members, Io and Ryu, encounter the pink wombat again, and suddenly, bracelets appear and fasten onto each of their wrists, as well as Yumoto's (who just happened to be nearby), transforming them into the Battle Lovers.
