In an era when aliens invade and conquer feudal Tokyo, an unemployed samurai finds work as he wishes. At the end of the 17th century, Japan is occupied by aliens, and the samurai regime falls. Our main character, Gintoki, is also a former samurai, and to pay his rent, he and his friends take on all sorts of odd jobs. The series skillfully blends humor and action around these events with touching moments.
