Guts was born from the corpse of a dead body hanging from a tree; he was fortuitously rescued by a group of warriors. Since childhood, Guts has been swept from battle to battle with a group that wields swords larger than he is. One day, his path crosses with the highly skilled warrior group known as the Band of Hawks. Their leader, Griffith, is impressed by Guts's fighting ability and, after winning a duel where the winner's wish will be granted, he brings Guts into the group. The group gains fame through numerous battles, rising to the rank of Knighthood due to Griffith's cunning plans. However, Griffith desires more, and destruction becomes inevitable for the Band of Hawks. The mysterious events that unfold will affect Guts's life until the end, turning him into a fate warrior who constantly battles dark forces.
