Wes Anderson Trapped in an Elevator at the Academy Museum
The Hollywood Reporter
Wes Anderson was trapped in an elevator for about 30 minutes after attending the 30th anniversary celebration of his film "Bottle Rocket" at the Academy Museum. During this time, he was with producer James L. Brooks and was rescued with the help of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Following the incident, a source called Save Your Cinema claimed that the elevator was a "secret passage for celebrities to enter and exit." However, The Hollywood Reporter could not confirm whether Anderson used a private entrance. This raised questions about the museum's security measures and how celebrities participate in events.
A video shared by Carolyn Dunn from 20th Century Fox showed Anderson asking LAFD what had gone wrong as he exited the elevator. An official responded, "There was probably too much weight inside." This could spark discussions about the safety and organization of events.
"Bottle Rocket" marks the beginning of Wes Anderson's Oscar-winning directing career. Released in 1996, the film starred Luke and Owen Wilson. Anderson's latest film, "The Phoenician Scheme," is set to premiere in 2025 featuring stars like Benicio Del Toro, Mia Threapleton, and Scarlett Johansson.
