After Universal pulled the M3GAN spinoff Soulm8te from its theatrical schedule, Blumhouse Atomic Monster decided to send the film directly to home video platforms. Directed and written by Kate Dolan, this production will be exclusively released on digital platforms starting August 1.

Following the box office failure of M3GAN 2.0, the agreement with Universal Pictures Home Entertainment accelerated this new project. M3GAN 2.0 grossed only $39.1 million worldwide, while the first film M3GAN achieved a remarkable $180 million success. Dolan noted that Soulm8te blends technology paranoia with erotic thriller elements, aiming to provide viewers with an entertaining experience.

Soulm8te tells the story of a man (David Rysdahl) who rents an AI-powered friend while grieving. Dolan aims to offer a thought-provoking experience by addressing themes such as desires, obsessions, autonomy, and control in this film. The cast also includes Claudia Doumit and Arty Froushan.

Highlighting the advantages of the home viewing experience, Dolan emphasized the importance of how Soulm8te is watched. "This film tackles the ruthless cycle of desires and obsessions. I believe viewers should watch it with friends, drink in hand, and without hesitation to shout at the screen, just like when watching films like Basic Instinct or Showgirls," she said.
