Sterling K. Brown Explains the Appeal of His Role in 'Is God Is'

Sterling K. Brown is excited to work with writer and director Aleshea Harris in the attention-grabbing film 'Is God Is'. The Oscar-nominated Brown notes that through his portrayal of the Monster character in Harris's thriller, he has found an opportunity to tell stories that 'distribute' the experiences of Black women on screen.
In an interview with Rolling Out, Brown expressed his enthusiasm for the project, saying, 'I love Black women and I’m happy to see them win.' He added, 'This is an extremely creative script; it’s something different and innovative. Our community needs creative and new stories.' Brown emphasized that increasing the diversity of narratives will contribute to a broader perspective on Black cinema and its stories.
Additionally, Brown pointed out the importance of telling different stories, stating, 'We are everything, and the opportunity to do everything excites me.' He expressed that projects like this have the potential to change societal perceptions, noting that productions like 'Is God Is' allow for the representation of Black women with strong and complex characters.
