Bill Lawrence and Matt Tarses' comedy series Rooster on HBO has reached the end of its first season, but there's no need to worry as the entire cast and crew will return for the second season. In the Christmas-themed season finale, Greg (Steve Carell) thinks he's giving his last lecture in the writing seminar, but a surprise party organized by Professor Dylan (Danielle Deadwyler) and Tommy (Maximo Salas) makes him realize he belongs here.

Greg gets another chance to make a toast with his friends at Art's Diner, and then calls Walter Mann (John C. McGinley), the Chancellor of Ludlow University, to ask if he can stay for another season. These scenes form the central point of the character's development in the series and complete the emotional framework of season 1.

The producers have indicated that this transformation presented in the finale will lay the groundwork for season 2. Significant developments regarding Greg's new role and his relationships at the university are expected in the continuation of the series.

Hints about new characters that may appear in season 2 have not yet been detailed by the producers. However, it is noted that the emotional moments in the finale have created a solid starting point for season 2.

A release date for the second season of Rooster, which will continue on HBO and HBO Max, has not yet been announced.
