Paramount is preparing to pay over 30 million dollars to acquire the rights to 'The Midnight Library', a film that garnered significant interest at the Cannes film market. Directed by Garth Davis and starring Florence Pugh, this film is based on the novel of the same name by Matt Haig. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this deal stands out as one of the largest agreements at the Cannes film market.

The film tells the story of Nora Seed, who finds herself in a magical library between life and death. Through the books in this library, Nora gets the chance to see the many outcomes of lives she never lived. Florence Pugh will portray this character, offering audiences a profound emotional journey.

StudioCanal will handle the distribution of the film in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Benelux, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, while Paramount will manage the rest of the distribution worldwide. This will allow the film to reach a broad audience internationally.

The collaboration between Garth Davis and Florence Pugh on this project continues from their previous work together on Netflix's 'East of Eden'. Davis is a director known for significant projects such as the Oscar-nominated 'Lion' and 'Top of the Lake', starring Elizabeth Moss. Pugh is rapidly advancing her career by participating in major productions within the Marvel universe, including 'Thunderbolts' and 'Avengers: Doomsday'.
