As Marvel prepares for one of its biggest years in 2026, it has been announced that a new series project featuring Nicolas Cage as Spider-Noir is in development. Cage previously voiced the same character in the animated Spider-Verse films, but he will take on a different version in this live-action series for Prime Video. The series will premiere two days early on MGM+ on May 25, followed by its full season release on Prime Video on May 27.

Spider-Noir follows Ben Reilly, an aging and disillusioned private detective. Reilly is also the only true superhero in New York. The series is adapted for television by its writer and creator Orien Uziel, with Phil Lord and Chris Miller, directors of Project Hail Mary, serving as producers. Alongside Cage, the cast includes Lamorne Morris, Abraham Popoola, Brendan Gleeson, Jack Huston, and Li Jun Li.

This project from Nicolas Cage is a significant part of Marvel's strong release schedule in the early months of 2026. Spider-Noir is among the first of several new content offerings from Marvel following the finale of Daredevil: Born Again's second season. This summer, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, featuring stars Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo, is set to hit theaters.

Unlike the animated version of Spider-Noir, Cage will portray private detective Ben Reilly in the Prime Video series, rather than an alternate Peter Parker. This character transformation makes the live-action adaptation a distinct and unique narrative separate from the animated original. The series will maintain the character's place in the rich Marvel universe while presenting it from a new perspective.

Spider-Noir stands out as part of Marvel's extensive project portfolio in 2026. Alongside major productions like Avengers: Doomsday, it strengthens the MCU's presence on digital and cinematic platforms. Nicolas Cage's return has generated significant anticipation among Marvel fans.
