In an interview with The Guardian related to the release of her documentary In-I In Motion, Binoche shared her thoughts on this relatively new role. The Paris-born actress noted that while guidance from a coordinator is taken in intimate scenes, she emphasized that for a genuine and impactful performance, actors need to transcend their comfort zones.

Drawing from her experience in performance art, Binoche explained that while technical support and safety measures are important, they are not enough. She expressed that acting in intimate scenes is a task that delves into the depths of human nature and cannot be achieved solely through coordination protocols. Accordingly, to create a realistic and emotionally sincere performance, actors must consciously push beyond their boundaries.

Although the use of intimacy coordinators in the film industry has increased in recent years, as Binoche mentioned, this development does not automatically ensure an improvement in the quality of acting. From the actress's perspective, the trust relationship between the actor and the director, the vision of the production designer, and the actor's own emotional capacity are equally important.
