The actor's brother, Mike Starr, revealed to TMZ that Beau died peacefully of natural causes on Friday in Vancouver, Canada, referring to him as "very unique and special."
Born on September 1, 1944, in Queens, New York, Beau Starr began his career as a professional baseball player. After playing on the practice squad of the New York Jets from 1966 to 1968, he went on to play for the Montreal Alouettes and Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Canadian Football League.
Starr's career in film and television began in 1979 with the sketch comedy show Bizarre, followed by appearances in numerous productions such as TJ Hooker, Cagney & Lacey, Three's Company, Knight Rider, Remington Steele, The A-Team, MacGyver, The Fall Guy, Moonlighting, Night Court, Matlock, Murder She Wrote, Wings, NYPD Blue, The Dead Zone, and Psych.
Among his significant roles in television, Starr portrayed Lt. Bill Triplett in NBC's short-lived crime drama True Blue (1989-1990) and Lt. Harding Welsh in CTV's crime comedy Due South (1994-1999). However, his role in the Halloween series holds a special place; he played Sheriff Ben Meeker in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) and Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989).
