Colin Farrell has become one of the most successful actors in recent years, appearing in some of the most-watched productions on streaming platforms and in theaters. Farrell's portrayal of The Penguin in 2022 was so well-received that HBO commissioned a spin-off series centered around the character, which is set to premiere in 2024. The show garnered widespread critical acclaim and won nine Emmy Awards, but there is still no clarity on what comes after Season 1. Recently, Farrell also starred alongside Margot Robbie in the romantic fantasy adventure A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, which is currently available for global viewing on Netflix. For Farrell, this is the best time of his career, especially after receiving his first Oscar nomination for his performance in The Banshees of Inisherin a few years ago.
While The Penguin is a major success in every way, many fans argue that the best series of 2024 is actually Sugar. It seems quite reasonable for Apple TV's hard-boiled noir-style detective thriller Sugar, which also stars Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Amy Ryan, to claim this title. Although Sugar concluded on May 17, nearly two years later, Apple TV officially announced that the long-awaited Season 2 will return on June 15. As part of Collider's Exclusive Summer Preview Event, we are partnering with Apple TV to premiere new footage from Sugar Season 2 ahead of its June 15 release date. The series has been rapidly climbing Apple TV's top 10 list in many countries ahead of its return.
