From season two onwards he played "the man falling off the chair". 1980-1980 Helmut was a regular as Onkel Otto in the Series Susi. The Museum of Applied Arts in Cologne dedicated a show to him in 1994 and the German Film Museum in Frankfurt am Main showed some of his costume designs in 1999/2000. In recent years he has only worked as a photographer and presented black and white photographs from the 1990s in the Cologne City Museum.
