For three seasons, The Toys That Made Us has uncovered the hidden histories of the most beloved playthings in modern history, from Barbie to Lego to Power Rangers. Now, the behind-the-scenes artwork showcased on the series is going to be collected in a handsome book, The Art of The Toys That Made Us, for which Toys That Made Us producer Nacelle and publisher Oni Press are launching a Kickstarter. The Kickstarter will also include Nacelleverse: Year Zero, the collected edition of Nacelle's all-new comics featuring tales of several cult-classic toy lines. Collider is proud to exclusively reveal the all-new wraparound cover for Nacelleverse: Year Zero, by Canadian comic artist Karl Kerschl (Gotham Academy). Nacelleverse: Year Zero will present comics featuring a number of classic properties, including Robo Force, Biker Mice From Mars, Sectaurs, Power Lords, The Wild West C.O.W. Boys of Moo Mesa, and The Great Garloo. Oni Press has assembled an all-star roster of comics creators for the books, including Melissa Flores (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), Matt Hotson (Power Rangers: The Return), Francis Portela (Black Panther), Juan Gedeon (Venom), V Ken Marion (Green Lantern), and more. Kerschl's cover unites Nacelle's wide variety of characters, from the massive mechanoids of Robo Force to the rip-roaring rodents of Biker Mice From Mars, in one stunning image. You can back the Kickstarter here. Your answers point to the world your instincts were built for. This is the universe your temperament, your survival instincts, and your particular brand of stubbornness were made for. You took the red pill a long time ago — probably before anyone offered it to you. You're a systems thinker who can't help but notice the seams in things. The wasteland doesn't reward the clever or the well-connected — it rewards those who are hard to kill and harder to break. That's you. You'd survive here because you know how to exist in moral grey areas without losing yourself completely. Arrakis is the most hostile environment in the known universe — and you are precisely the kind of person it rewards. The galaxy far, far away is vast, loud, and in a constant state of violent political upheaval — and you wouldn't have it any other way. The Toys That Made Us is a documentary series looking at the creation, rise, and fall of a wide variety of toys. That includes classics like Barbie, Lego, My Little Pony, and Masters of the Universe. It also features licensed toy lines from media properties like Star Wars, Star Trek, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, explaining their path from screen to concept to store shelves. The series often features historical footage, as well as interviews with creators, executives, and fans to give the full accounting of the subject's history. Three seasons have already debuted on Netflix, with the most recent in 2019; after a lengthy hiatus, two more seasons are in the works, covering subjects like Hot Wheels, Ghostbusters, and Polly Pocket. Contributors to The Art of The Toys That Made Us Kickstarter will also have the chance to pick up a wide array of exclusive merch. That includes hats, wallets, VHS tapes, lunch boxes, and, for the first 100 backers to pledge over $100 USD, an exclusive figure of Robo Force's TERBL.
