Kirsty revisits her hot border, designed to display vibrant colours at the height of summer. The winter temperatures killed off a few plants, so she will be trying out some alternatives. Brian is in the calendar border, created to have some form of colour or interest every month of the year. It has not had much attention this year, so Brian will be topping it up to ensure year-round performance.

One of the first parts of that revamp is the creation of a stumpery, a growing technique based on an old tree and planted with a range of ferns.
