Damon has starred in everything from Academy Award-winning dramas to action-packed thrillers. However, one of his most overlooked movies, The Instigators, is gaining traction on Apple TV. Directed by Doug Liman and written by Chuck Maclean, the Apple Original film premiered on the streamer in August 2024. Now, the 2024 action comedy film has found its way back to the top of Apple TV's Top 10 chart two years after its initial release. At the time of this article's publication, it had claimed the number one spot on the list, making it one of the streaming platform's most watched movies this week. The film stars Damon as Rory, a struggling man who teams up with an ex-con named Cobby, played by Casey Affleck, for what was supposed to be a basic heist. Unfortunately for them, their mission goes awry and ends in the duo being hunted by both the police and criminals. The Instigators also features a large ensemble cast featuring Hong Chau, Michael Stuhlbarg, Alfred Molina, Ron Perlman, Ving Rhames, Toby Jones, and Paul Walter Hauser, alongside Affleck and Damon. Although it's not uncommon for films to resurface at the top of the charts years after their debut, The Instigators snatching the number one spot on Apple TV's Top 10 chart could have something to do with the release of Damon's most recent film, The Odyssey, which just premiered in theaters a few days ago (July 17, 2026). The release of huge blockbuster hits usually brings back a renewed interest in their stars and their past projects. And, with The Odyssey being one of the summer's most highly anticipated projects, along with Damon in the leading role, it's not that big of a reach to assume that it could have something to do with The Instigators becoming the number one movie on Apple TV this week. The Instigators can currently be streamed on Apple TV, and The Odyssey is playing in theaters now.
