Mary Trewednack lives above her Post Office in the fictional Cornish village of St Gweep with her neurotic partner Angela. They are lesbians until something better comes along, enjoying the cozy security of life in a close-knit coastal community. However, their chances of finding suitable men are slimmer than the village itself. Behind this picture-postcard facade, witchcraft and wife-swapping are more common than cream teas and Cornish pasties. In this village, the local bobby is Police Calendar's Mr. March, the cozy pub hosts swinger evenings, and the local museum is dedicated to witchcraft.
