George Smiley, the aging master spy of the Cold War and once the heir-apparent to Control, is called out of retirement to uncover a high-level mole within the Circus. Smiley must journey back through his life and the murky operations of the Circus to untangle the web spun by his nemesis Karla 'The Sandman' of the KGB and reveal the mole's identity before he vanishes.
