The grueling war lasts ten years and is won thanks to Odysseus's brilliant plan. However, a major mistake he makes after the victory changes his fate forever. Blinded by the desire for glory, Odysseus arrogantly claims that he conquered Troy by his own strength, belittling the gods. In response to this hubris, Poseidon, the god of the seas, curses him and condemns Odysseus and his crew to drift at sea for years. As hope of reuniting with Ithaca, and most importantly, his family, dwindles, Penelope tries to protect herself from suitors who believe Odysseus is dead and want to marry her.
