The First tells the story of the first manned journey to Mars, focusing on the adventures of establishing a colony on the planet. Set in the 2030s, the series depicts the preparation processes of astronauts who are about to embark on a mission to create a colony on Mars, as well as their adventures on the planet. The experiences of the passengers and their families are also featured, with the lead role played by the talented actor Sean Penn. Joining Penn in The First's cast are names like Natascha McElhone, Lisa Gay Hamilton, Anna Jacoby-Heron, Rey Lucas, Keiko Agena, Oded Fehr, and Hannah Ware. The series is created by Beau Willimon, the mastermind behind House of Cards.
