The series centers around a single bachelor (considered eligible) and a group of romantic interests, which may include a potential wife for him. The conflicts arise from the elimination-style format of the show, both internal and external. Early in the season, the bachelor goes on large group dates with the women, with most being eliminated during rose ceremonies.
