Terry and June Medford are both middle-aged and starting to find life's challenges more difficult as they strive to succeed in their everyday lives. The couple has just moved to Purley, southeast London... Aunt Lucy and the mynah bird have vanished, as have the occasionally visiting daughters. Terry and June now interact with a friendly next-door neighbor, Beattie; Terry's talkative work colleague, Malcolm; and their gruff boss, Sir Dennis Hodge. Otherwise, things remain much the same, with Terry's stubborn childishness causing endless problems, often thwarting June's efforts to lead a cozy life.
