Based on the comic book created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, the series follows Dr. Alec Holland, who transforms into a creature after exposure to a chemical substance. The Swamp Thing comic was adapted for the big screen by Wes Craven in 1982, following its first publication in 1971. The work returned to the audience seven years later with a new sequel, while it was brought to the screen in the early '90s and aired for three seasons. Dick Durock portrayed the main character in both the screen adaptation and the film.
