Softly, Softly: Task Force is a police drama series that aired on BBC 1 from 1969 to 1976. It was a reimagining of Softly, Softly, which was itself a spin-off from Z-Cars. The change was partly made to coincide with the introduction of color broadcasting on the BBC's main channel, BBC1. The show was initially intended to be called simply Task Force, but in a bid to retain a beloved brand, the BBC decided to keep the name Softly, Softly: Task Force.
