Hanamichi Sakuragi is a high school delinquent who is always fighting, always falling in love, and always getting rejected. He is recently rejected by the girl he loves, Haruko Akagi. However, Haruko explains why she rejected him: she wants to date someone from the basketball club. To win the heart of the girl he loves and date her, Hanamichi, who has only engaged in martial arts as an amateur until now, decides to join the basketball club.
