Por Estas Calles is a telenovela that aired on Radio Caracas Televisión from 1992 to 1994. It gained immense popularity in Venezuela due to its realistic portrayal of everyday life in the country and its local tone. It was the first Venezuelan program to realistically depict corruption in political life, as well as the first to showcase the daily lives of people in the poor neighborhoods. For instance, it illustrated how the intermittent water supply affected the lives of the poor, featuring community meetings and lovers' encounters interrupted by news that the water was running, prompting everyone to rush to fill their storage tanks and barrels. The Spanish edition of Rolling Stone magazine ranked it as the 8th best show among the 100 Best TV Shows Ever in all of Latin America. It is believed to be the longest telenovela ever produced in Venezuela.
