Morning Star is a daytime soap opera that aired on NBC from September 27, 1965, to July 1, 1966. The show was created by Ted Corday, who also created the long-running soap opera Days of our Lives. The show aired at 11:00 AM and was paired with Paradise Bay, which followed it and was also created by Ted Corday. Morning Star was one of the first soap operas to be broadcast in color. The series follows Katy Elliot, a fashion designer from Connecticut, who moves to New York City to pursue her career. The story chronicles her challenges and experiences alongside her roommates, Joan Mitchell and Joan's daughter, Liz. Katy left her hometown of Springdale after the tragic death of her fiancé, Greg Ross, who was killed in a traffic accident just before their wedding. In New York, Katy meets and falls in love with Bill Riley. She also stays in touch with her aunt Millie Elliot, her uncle Ed Elliot, a judge in Springdale, and her sixteen-year-old sister, Jan. Like Days of our Lives, the show opened with an epigraph, which was customary for soaps of that era: "No matter how dark the night, there is always a new dawn to come. The sun is but a morning star." The title of the show refers to the sun.
