Mirada de mujer is a Mexican telenovela produced and aired by TV Azteca in 1997, based on the Colombian telenovela "Señora Isabel" from 1994. It is regarded as one of the best telenovelas in the history of the television industry in Mexico. It premiered a year after TV Azteca's first telenovela, Nada personal, and was the first telenovela on that network featuring its five major stars, who had previously worked for the rival station, Televisa. In 2003, a sequel titled Mirada de mujer: El Regreso was produced. This telenovela is notable for being the only TV Azteca telenovela to win the TVyNovelas Award for Best Telenovela of the Year in a surprising turn of events, earning respect from audiences for its competitor's product, as the TVyNovelas Awards are typically awarded to Televisa programs. In addition to enjoying a wide viewership in Latin America, it was also broadcast in countries such as Afghanistan, Israel, and Eastern Europe. In India, it was aired by Sahara TV, dubbed in Hindi, under the title Maria.
