The year is 1993. 14-year-old Alex Ryabinin lives a typical teenage life—seeking adventure, trying to protect himself from bullies, reluctant to learn music, and unsure how to meet girls or which adults to look up to. On one side is an honest but struggling family with a saleswoman mother and a father who is a lecturer; on the other is the perilous world of his Afghan veteran Uncle Alik. Then there's the girl Zhenya, whose meeting sets off a chain of irreversible events that will forever alter Alex's life. Fleeing from bullies, Alex steals a car from a local crime boss, and in an instant, everything changes. Will he manage to handle all the challenges while being at the center of the action?
