Shinnosuke Tomari is a former elite officer in the Metropolitan Police who, after a traumatic incident involving one of his colleagues, has been "demoted" to the Special Investigations Division, a team that investigates strange occurrences in the city, particularly the "Heavy Acceleration" events that leave people unable to move, which the public has dubbed the "Slowdown." When chosen by the Drive Driver and Tridoron, Shinnosuke transforms into Kamen Rider Drive and is tasked with battling the Roidmudes who seek to take over the world by eliminating humanity.
