This story follows Cootie, a four-foot-tall Black teenager from Oakland, California, on his journey to adulthood. Growing up in hiding, Cootie experiences the beauty and contradictions of the world for the first time. He makes friends, finds love, overcomes strange situations, and meets his idol, Hero, who is a true superhero.
