Several centuries ago, humans were nearly wiped out by giants. These giants are tall, not very intelligent, and feed on humans. A small group of people found a solution by enclosing themselves in a city surrounded by high walls that are even taller than the largest giants. Fast forward to today, and no giant has been seen in the city for 100 years. Young boy Eren and his stepsister Mikasa witness the collapse of the city's walls by a massive giant. The giants begin to swarm into the city, and the two children witness their mother being devoured alive in terror. Eren vows to kill every giant and take revenge for all humanity.
