Papuwa-kun is a young boy living a peaceful life with his dog, Chappy, on a small island somewhere in the South Pacific, when Shintarou, who is being chased by gangsters, crashes into their happy existence. Chappi takes Shintarou's precious jewel, turning the two main characters into lifelong rivals. Together, they embark on a series of bizarre adventures and situations.
